Privacy Policy
At DeskHike, privacy is built into how the app works.
DeskHike does not collect or maintain a database of your health, fitness or workout data.
DeskHike accesses and processes only the health and activity information necessary to provide its features and display your walking activity across your compatible Apple devices. This information is not transmitted to DeskHike-operated servers, sold, used for advertising, or used to create a DeskHike fitness profile.
This Privacy Policy explains how DeskHike (“DeskHike”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the DeskHike app, website and related services.
1. How DeskHike Handles Your Fitness Data
DeskHike is designed to help you track and view walking activity while working at a desk or using a walking pad.
To provide this functionality, DeskHike may access or process health and fitness information on your compatible Apple devices.
Depending on the features you use, this may include:
• heart rate;
• steps;
• walking distance;
• active energy or estimated calories burned;
• workout duration;
• walking speed; and
• other activity information necessary to provide your DeskHike session.
This information is processed only as necessary to provide DeskHike’s functionality.
DeskHike does not maintain its own database of your health, fitness or workout information.
We do not use this information to create a personal profile about you, analyse your behaviour for marketing purposes, or track you across other apps or services.
2. Apple Health and HealthKit
DeskHike uses Apple’s HealthKit technologies to provide health, fitness and workout functionality.
Where permission is required, you choose what health information DeskHike is permitted to access. You can review or revoke these permissions through the Health and privacy settings on your Apple devices.
Health and fitness information accessed or processed by DeskHike is:
• accessed only as permitted by you and your Apple device;
• used only to provide DeskHike’s health, fitness and workout functionality;
• processed only as necessary to provide or display your activity;
• not transmitted to DeskHike-operated servers;
• not maintained in a DeskHike health or workout database;
• not used to build an advertising or marketing profile about you;
• not sold to advertisers, data brokers or other third parties;
• not used for targeted advertising; and
• not retained by DeskHike for marketing or advertising purposes.
Where workout information is stored in Apple Health, that storage is managed through Apple Health and your Apple devices rather than a DeskHike-operated health database.
3. Communication Between Your Apple Devices
DeskHike is designed to work across compatible Apple devices, which may include Apple Watch, iPhone and Mac.
To provide this experience, information relating to your current DeskHike session may be communicated between your devices.
For example, your Apple Watch may provide workout information to your iPhone so that your current activity can be displayed in DeskHike. Your iPhone may also communicate current DeskHike information to your Mac so that your activity can be displayed there.
This device-to-device communication is used to provide DeskHike’s functionality.
DeskHike does not operate a cloud health database to receive or store this information.
Information communicated between your devices is not used by DeskHike for advertising, marketing, data brokerage or the creation of a user fitness profile.
4. No DeskHike Account Required
You do not need to create a DeskHike account to use the DeskHike app.DeskHike does not create an online health or fitness profile associated with you.Your health and workout activity is not connected to a DeskHike advertising or marketing profile.
5. What DeskHike Does Not Do With Your Health Data
DeskHike does not:
• sell your health or fitness information;
• sell your workout information;
• provide your health information to advertisers or data brokers;
• use your health information for targeted advertising;
• use your health information for marketing;
• use your health information to track you across other apps or websites;
• maintain a server-side history of your workouts;
• create a DeskHike health profile about you; or
• use your Apple Health information for unrelated purposes.
DeskHike exists to provide you with useful information about your own activity — not to monetise your health data.

We do not use health information to track you across apps, websites or services owned by other companies.

If you choose to join the DeskHike mailing list, we collect the email address you voluntarily provide for the purpose of sending you DeskHike launch announcements, product news and related updates.
This is separate from the DeskHike app and its health and fitness functionality.
Our mailing list may be operated using a third-party email service provider, currently MailerLite. Your email address and information associated with your subscription may therefore be processed and stored by that provider for the purpose of managing and delivering DeskHike communications.

We may use service providers to operate aspects of the DeskHike website or mailing list, such as website hosting and email delivery.

We may also disclose information where required to comply with applicable law, legal process or a valid request from an authorised government authority.
10. Data Retention
DeskHike does not maintain its own server-side database containing your Apple Health or workout history.
As a result, there is no DeskHike cloud health profile or server-side workout history for us to retain.
Workout information may be retained by Apple Health or on your Apple devices according to Apple’s systems, your device configuration and the permissions you have granted.
Information you voluntarily provide through the DeskHike website, such as your mailing-list email address, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service or comply with applicable legal requirements.

11. Your Control Over Health Information
You remain in control of the health information that DeskHike is permitted to access.
You can review, change or revoke DeskHike’s access to Apple Health information using the applicable Health and privacy settings on your Apple devices.
Revoking access to particular information may prevent some DeskHike features from functioning correctly.
Because DeskHike does not maintain a server-side collection of your Apple Health or workout information, you do not need to contact DeskHike to request deletion of a DeskHike cloud health profile.
Any information stored within Apple Health can be managed using the controls provided by Apple.
12. Security and Privacy by Design
DeskHike is designed to minimise unnecessary collection and storage of personal information.
One of the primary ways we protect your health information is by avoiding the creation of a DeskHike-operated database containing your health and workout history.
Where information is communicated between your compatible devices for DeskHike functionality, it is used for the purpose of providing the DeskHike experience.
Information stored within Apple Health remains subject to Apple’s security and privacy protections and the security settings of your Apple devices.
No software or electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore continue to consider privacy and security as DeskHike develops.
13. Children's Privacy
DeskHike does not knowingly maintain a DeskHike-operated database containing children’s health or fitness information.
Access to Apple Health functionality and information on Apple devices may also be subject to Apple’s account, age, device and family settings.
If personal information is voluntarily submitted to us through the DeskHike website by a child in circumstances where parental or guardian consent is required by applicable law, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
14. Third-Party Services
DeskHike relies on certain Apple technologies and services to provide its functionality, including HealthKit and technologies that allow compatible Apple devices to communicate.
Information handled by Apple is subject to Apple’s applicable privacy policies, terms and device settings.
The DeskHike website may also use third-party infrastructure and services, such as website hosting and MailerLite for mailing-list communications.
Those providers may process information submitted through their respective services in accordance with their privacy policies and their arrangements with DeskHike.
These website services are separate from the health and workout information processed by the DeskHike app.
15. International Processing
Some third-party services used to operate the DeskHike website or mailing list may process information outside Australia.
For example, information you voluntarily provide to a third-party email or website service may be processed in countries where that provider operates.
This does not involve DeskHike sending your Apple Health or workout information to those services.
16. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information that we hold about you, including rights to request access to or correction of that information.
Because DeskHike does not maintain a server-side database of your Apple Health or workout information, we generally will not hold a copy of that health information to provide, correct or delete.
For personal information you have provided directly to DeskHike, such as information submitted through the website, you may contact us regarding your information or privacy rights.
You can manage Apple Health information and DeskHike’s access to it directly through the controls provided by Apple.

DeskHike may evolve over time, and we may update this Privacy Policy as features, technologies or legal requirements change.
If DeskHike’s practices regarding the collection, storage or use of information materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and make any additional disclosures required by applicable law or platform requirements.
